Meeting With The Groom

May 20, 2011

Groom Formal PortraitWeddings can be complicated to plan. We’ve noticed over the past few years that more and more grooms are getting involved in the planning process. This helps reduce the stress on the bride, and gets the groom more involved.

While this is an emerging industry trend, we have noticed over the past year more grooms either coming with the bride to meet with us, or the groom meeting with us on their own.

This was the case a few days ago when we met with a groom to discus his wedding photography needs. His bride-to-be was out of the country so he was handling the face-to-face meetings.

If possible, we always like to meet with the bride and groom to discuss what type of photos they are looking for. This way, they can get exactly what they want and need. Brides and grooms tend to look at things differently and the bride in many cases does not ask questions that her groom will want to know the answer for. This also keeps the bride from having to repeat everything from the meeting.

Many times the grooms are not comfortable with having their picture taken and meeting with the photographer before the actual wedding day will put them more at ease. This also allows the bride and groom to experience what type of personality the photographer has and make sure that the photographer’s personality matches the couple.

Remember: Your wedding photos are for you, not your photographer, so no matter who you pick, be comfortable with them, and find the one who will meet that your needs, not their needs.
